With a deep love and reverence for our favorite magical place, this little online store was created to celebrate the unique spirit of Grand Marais, the fun we have together and the experiences beyond compare that Nature in Abundance has given us over the decades.

“Here to 49839” is a play on the Grand Marais song’s refrain: “Here to Grand Marais.” 😊 Using GM’s zip code makes the name a little hidden gem for us all to enjoy.

Where it started.

The journey began with Bruce Erickson who was born in Grand Marais in 1932. Bruce was raised amidst the breathtaking landscapes and a population of 300 in Grand Marais until he graduated from Grand Marais High School in 1949, later going to university and serving for the US Army. Later Bruce became the guidance counselor for Kohler Public School for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1990. Bruce had a special knack for sharing the wonder of his hometown, inviting friends and family to experience its charm and serenity. His passion for Grand Marais turned into a lifelong mission to connect people to this enchanting locale. Some of his closest friends started bringing their families, their friends families and even later retiring there. Bruce touched the lives of us all, creating lasting memories and fostering a community bound by love for Grand Marais, and each other.

In 2020, we lost Bruce, and Mary Ann in 2015, but despite their passing, their legacy continues to thrive. Each visit to Grand Marais is a tribute to Bruce and Mary Ann, a celebration of their lives, their stories and the beautiful traditions they began. For many of us, Grand Marais is more than a place——it’s a legacy, a multi-generational tradition that brings our families and friends together, year after year.

Here's where I come in.

I made this site in memory of Bruce’s spirit and so that we can all continue to share in the magic of Grand Marais with fun, laughter and celebration. My hope is that this gear embodies the essence of the Upper Peninsula, our friendships, our jokes and our histories together in Grand Marias (with some modern style 😉). I want people to have some fun stuff to wear that keeps them warm, looking fly and celebrating the experience that is so special to us all (IYKYK).

Caveat.

Here to 48939 a labor of love. Not here to make money. So we're just printing on demand. Things may not be perfect, so LMK if they're not. But unfortunately this is more a "friends and family" take it or leave it thing. No markups. No customer service. No returns. No samples. It's an experiment. We'll see how it goes!
